The house by the Sea has a bit of everything...mystery, suspense, romance, forgiveness, emotion and ghostly encounters. The plot, while somewhat involved, was pretty predictable. I could have done without so many of the ghostly encounters, especially the countless times Edie experienced her dead son Daniel beside her. The description of this novel is “chilling and unforgettable”. Granted there were some chilling moments, but for me it was forgettable. Two days ago I picked up your book and I've not been able to put it down. The story was compelling for sure, but I also felt like the characters were people I could relate to. I know Sicily very well and you really 'got' the Sicilian-ness of the people. The location was described so that I felt like it was familiar, the colors, the sounds, the landscape. It would have been transporting anyway, but during this time of lockdown, I was extra grateful for a chance to travel to Sicily. The story is so tactile and moves along so full of colorful encounters. It is a page turner where the reader really begins to care and hope for the main characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the story.
